Roar Media Pte. Ltd (Roar), which is the first venture capital investment made by Striders Corporation (2018), continued to show its strength in digital media by marking significant milestones during the COVID-19 pandemic.
From 1st April 2020, Roar was selected by Facebook to serve as their Authorized Sales partner in the Sri Lanka. The partnership signifies the major role played by Roar in Facebook’s aggressive expansion in Sri Lanka. Through the partnership, Roar received extensive training from Facebook which enables the company to rightfully provide Facebook media consultancy free of charge to local businesses and agencies in Sri Lanka, as well as various programs and training, such as Facebook workshops and Facebook Blueprint.
By the same token, Roar’s stellar work performance has led the company to be selected as the recipient for several prominent awards. In the first half of 2020, Roar Media is selected to be the recipient of USD 150,000 funding from Google News Initiative to promote Sri Lanka’s journalism in the digital era. Furthermore, Roar was selected for a capacity building grant in the form of a full - year professional training from experts in the media and content-creation business from International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX), which is sponsored by USAID. Both grants are expected to help support fledging media organizations in Sri Lanka such as Roar to grow and expand their businesses even more in this time of crisis.
Aside from the company’s achievements, Roar’s founder and CEO, Mustafa Kassim, has been selected as one of the four Sri Lankans to be featured in the prestigious ‘Forbes’ magazine ‘30 Under 30’ Asia List for 2020. The CEO has spearheaded the company for the last six years and has stated that he is determined to achieve more for the company in the future.
