[Singapore, 5th March 2026] Omusubi Venture Fund I of Omusubi Capital VCC (HQ in Singapore, Director: Nelaka Haturusinha) has officially launched with the completion of its first closing. This fund is anchored by Japan’s Striders Corporation (HQ in Tokyo, Japan, President/CEO: Ryotaro Hayakawa) and supported by prominent family offices and regional asset managers.

Alongside the first close, the fund announced its first investment in Netherlands-based climate technology company FieldFactors, signaling an ambitious start to its cross-border investment strategy.

Omusubi Venture Fund I is built to back the next generation of globally scalable startups across medtech, agritech, and greentech, investing at the Pre-Series A to Series A stages. The fund’s core thesis is clear: transformative companies solving deep structural challenges must scale beyond borders. Omusubi is designed to serve as a strategic bridge between Asia (Japan, Southeast Asia, South Asia) and Europe/USA, accelerating cross-continental growth.

“Omusubi Capital itself was born leveraging the long venture capital track record of Striders Corporation and we are glad to have the continued backing from Striders Corporation as the anchor investor to expand this investment strategy to back leaders in global innovation,” said Nelaka Haturusinha. “The world’s biggest challenges; climate resilience, food security, and healthcare access, demand global solutions. Our role is to connect breakthrough innovation across regions and enable companies to scale internationally from an early stage.”

Commenting on the first close of Omusubi Venture Fund I, Ryotaro Hayakawa, President and CEO of Striders Corporation said, “despite the global downturn in venture capital market, we are confident in continuing to back the VC strategy of Omusubi due to our strong conviction based on our past eight years of VC investing in the region and also through initiatives such as the Planet43 Deep Tech Accelerator with R3i Ventures”.

The fund’s inaugural investment in FieldFactors underscores this ambition. Based in the Netherlands, FieldFactors is redefining urban water management through decentralized rainwater harvesting and smart reuse systems, already deployed in several European cities. As cities worldwide face intensifying climate risks, water scarcity, and infrastructure stress, FieldFactors’ scalable solutions are emerging as critical components of future urban design.

The partnership reflects Omusubi’s strategy of investing in companies with strong technological foundations and clear global expansion pathways, particularly those with relevance across both European and Asian markets.

“Omusubi brings strategic access to Asian markets and a long-term growth vision that aligns with our international ambitions,” said Karina Peña, the Founder and CEO of FieldFactors. “This investment strengthens our ability to expand into Asia and accelerate the adoption of climate-resilient water solutions for cities.”

With momentum from its first closing and first investment, Omusubi Venture Fund I is actively evaluating additional opportunities across Europe, Asia, and the United States.
